Rapidly growing startup is looking for a Manager, Data Analytics to develop new reporting capabilities and fulfill requests for our diverse set of hospitality clients. This position performs complex research, data mining/analysis, reporting and interpretation of international, national, regional, local and/or account performance metrics. This is a hands-on position which requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented and analytically capable candidate who is eager to make an impact in this field.  This person will be able to collaborate within a team structure, as well as work independently.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design creative visualizations of the data –take complicated concepts and share critical, actionable insights and provide data-driven strategic recommendations to business partners.
  • Support ongoing analysis of business performance required to inform executive decisions on a daily basis.
  • Interface with customers and internal stakeholders to identify reporting requirements.
  • Consolidate feedback from multiple sources in an orderly, positive and proactive way.
  • Develop Excel-based models or templates to transform raw data into fully formatted output reports ready for client use.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to internal stakeholders on reporting templates to ensure successful implementation with our clients.
  • Obtain, combine, clean, transform, validate and analyze large and small datasets from multiple sources.
  • Effectively use charts, graphs and tables to convey analysis and summarize results.  Perform statistical analysis and interpretation of data to uncover actionable intelligence and trends that provide value to marketing and the business.
  • Partner with the Data Strategy group to proactively identify data enhancements to fulfill reporting needs.
  • Maintain and update our existing templated reports and assist in report fulfillment requests as needed.

Desired experience and skills

  • Exceptional Excel skills are required –the ability to produce client-ready outputs, attention to detail, footnote and label, and the back-end formula knowledge to build scalable, dynamic models.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with an analytics, business or hospitality focus.
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to succeed in a collaborative, start-up environment.
  • Knowledge of the hotel industry or revenue management is preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment.
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives.
  • A clear and client-focused communication style capable of articulating complex ideas succinctly, to all levels of understanding
  • Familiarity with Pentaho, Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau or other BI tool is a plus
  • Familiarity with SQL is a plus
